Principal’s Message

General Information

Dear Early Childhood families,

The Rome City School District’s Prekindergarten and Preschool Handicapped programs are honored to service your young children. We take pride in providing a quality early childhood program that promotes parent and family involvement. The Prekindergarten Program is for Rome district residents and students prior to their Kindergarten year only. It is state grant funded program that is open to all children turning 4 prior on or before to Dec. 1st. If you are interested in applying for next year, please call 334-1250 for an application.

Our program follows the Common Core learning standards at the Pre-K level. Teachers in Pre-K utilize the English Language Arts and Math teaching modules from EngageNY. Students are prepared for their Kindergarten entrance and classrooms focus on the ready to learn skills to make them successful in later years. Students quickly find out how fun learning can be.

We also prepare parents for a lifetime of being involved with their child’s education. We promote a strong partnership between home and school. Home / School / Community Liaisons assist parents with concerns, bus issues and set up multiple events and opportunities for family involvement.

We have a PAC (Parent Advisory Council) that is a mechanism for the parents of students in the Rome Early Childhood Program to have a voice in their children’s education.

  • PAC meets once a month (both parents and staff invited)
  • Parents advise and collaborate with the staff on what programs and events they would like to offer Early Childhood students
  • Members help to make decisions on larger program purchases to benefit the students / program
  • Committee explores and implements new and creative ideas for fun nights, make and takes and fundraisers
  • Share ideas with other parents and help plan parent workshops and support groups

Jenn Davis, 334-1247, or Shelley Razy, 334-1257 (Home / School / Community Liaisons).

Parents are encouraged to visit or volunteer at the school at any time, attend PAC meetings, participate in school day or evening events, send in make and take projects from home and participate in the many other activities designed to promote family involvement.
